The challenge
Wastewater treatment after soapstock processing. The industrial wastewater are specific in terms of load and are characterized with a very low active reaction, high content of sulphates, phosphorus and COD.
Veolia’s solution
The major solution is transportation of the wastewater with specialized vehicles to the city of Sofia and their discharge in the urban sewer network.
- The customer has a constructed wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) whose capacity is highly insufficient after the expansion of the production and cannot handle generated volumes of wastewater.
- Water is highly polluted with high concentrations of pH, COD, sulphates and suspended solids.
- A detailed analysis was conducted of the generated loads by pollutants and the data show that the WWTP near Kubratovo in the capital has sufficient capacity to accept and treat the wastewater from IK Nataliya.
The benefits
- Pollutants are again not returned to the environment and are recovered in one of the most efficient WWTPs in the Group. There the pollutants are converted into green energy.
